Access Requirements

Our delivery vehicles vary depending on the product ordered. We ask that customers inform us of any access restrictions when placing an order.
Ideally, a 10ft wide and 10ft high clear vehicle access route is required. However, with our extensive experience, we can usually overcome most access challenges if advised in advance.
In some cases, an additional fee may apply for difficult access.

Delivery times vary throughout the year depending on demand.
As a general guide:

• Standard buildings (popular models) are typically delivered within 8-12 weeks.
• Made-to-measure or labour-intensive products may take slightly longer.

Please note: delivery times can occasionally be slightly earlier or later than stated, depending on transport logistics and your location.
Central or densely populated areas are serviced more frequently than rural locations such as Scotland, Wales, Devon, and Cornwall.

Delivery Planning

You will receive advance notice of your exact delivery date, either directly from us or from our delivery partner—usually by telephone or email prior to delivery.
If the proposed date isn’t convenient, you can reschedule at no extra cost.

Deliveries are made Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Access Requirements

To ensure a smooth delivery and installation, please check the following access guidelines:

• Vehicle access: Our delivery vehicles require around 10ft width and 10ft height to reach your property safely.
• Access to the installation site: A minimum of 3ft clear width is required from the drop-off point to where your building will be installed.
• Access must be clear, level, and free from obstacles, allowing our team to carry panels safely by hand.
• If access is tight or involves corners, steps, or narrow passageways, please let us know when placing your order — we can usually work around most situations with notice. In some cases, a small additional charge may apply for difficult access.

Base Requirements

A strong, level base is essential for a successful installation. We recommend one of the following options:

• Concrete base – extremely durable and ideal for larger or heavier buildings.
• Paving slab base – suitable for most garden buildings if laid level and stable.
• Timber frame base – perfect for uneven ground or areas where concrete isn’t practical.
• Railway sleeper footing – an excellent alternative for solid, raised support and good ground stability.

Your base must be level, firm, and completed before installation. A poorly prepared base can lead to alignment issues or affect the performance of your building.
If you need help or guidance on preparing your base, our team can provide advice before delivery.

Before Installation

Please ensure the site is ready for our fitters before they arrive:

• The installation area must be clear, accessible, and free from obstructions such as garden furniture, debris, or low branches.
• Any groundwork, electrics, or plumbing should be completed after installation, not before.

Our story dates back to 1945, when our great-grandfather began producing sectional timber buildings known for their durability and quality. Building on that tradition, the next generation took things further — in 1965, our father established his own company, dealing in second-hand poultry houses. These structures quickly became sought after as robust, affordable garden buildings, loved for their strength and value.

As demand grew, he recognised the need to manufacture new timber buildings, marking a bold step forward in the business. By the late 1970s, the company was supplying a wide range of sectional buildings across the UK, including those used as site huts and work shelters. Over time, our reputation for dependable construction and practical design became firmly established, earning the trust of customers nationwide.

When portable buildings began to dominate the market in the mid-1980s, we evolved again — expanding our range to include garden sheds, garages, field shelters, and stables, continuing our reputation for quality and reliability. Each new product reflected our commitment to combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques and materials.

Today, that same pioneering spirit drives Direct Sectional Buildings. Even after the passing of our father in 2022, his legacy of hard work, honesty, and attention to detail remains at the heart of everything we do. The business is now proudly run by his sons, who have been involved from the time they could walk — growing up around the workshop, learning the trade from the ground up, and understanding every aspect of the business inside out. Their lifelong experience ensures the same family values and craftsmanship continue to guide every building we create.
